I work one-on-one (or in small groups) with teachers who are seeking to boost their knowledge and skills in a particular area. Common requests include improving math instruction and assessment, strengthening classroom community and management, increasing student engagement in their reading and writing growth, and setting up beginning teachers to thrive. Sessions can include demo lessons, observations, discussion, collaboration, or any combination that suits each teacher's wants and needs.

My goal is to help teachers boost their knowledge and skills in practical, manageable ways. I offer workshops, professional book clubs, and one-on-one coaching.
I gained my experience in education through teaching Grades 3, 5, 6 and 7 for twelve years in Vancouver, New York City, and Toronto, and I spent seven of those years mentoring new teachers. I have a B.A. in Sociology and a B.Ed in Elementary Education (Problem Based Learning cohort) from the University of British Columbia, as well as an M.A. in Sociology and Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. I am a Google certified educator, am trained in Responsive Classroom, have studied with Lucy Calkins' Reading and Writing Project, and have extensive experience with number talks and number strings.
Now, my learning continues through Twitter, reading books and articles, attending conferences, digging into educational research, and working with teachers in their classrooms.
